Any luck painting a chrome grille?

My chrome grille has several bubbles in it of varying sizes. Is it possible to strip the chrome and paint it body color or would it be a waste of time?

ive been wondering this as well. since it bubbles up i would imagine you could either scuff it up enough to take the paint smoothly or take it all off.

A friend of mine who is a professional body man told me that you'd need to remove all the chrome foil ans then prep the plastic there to even get some primer or (putty?) to attach. Regarding the prices for aftermarket chrome grilles I wouldn't do it if it was just a second best to chrome. Those aftermarkec companies do sometimes offer the grilles prepped for painting too.

I think it's a waste of time. It's an easy and relatively cheap replacement. Heck, I'm thinking about changing my grill to a billet one even though there's nothing wrong with mine.

I would be concerned about the fit of a non Mopar part.

I just spoke to LMC on the phone about a replacement grille shell for my 07 and they said the ones they offer were only for 02-05?? Is there a difference in those and an 07? I know I was just talking to a customer service rep, so they may not know the actual difference, they were just reading out of the catalog....

Not really, I buy new grilles at Certifit.com and they fit perfect, last a long time and cost only $ 33.00 chrome or $ 22.00 paint to match.

I just called Certifit since theres one in San Antonio, sure enough they have one for mine for 22 dollars. I didn't ask, are they just black primer or black gloss thats going to match my truck? If so i dont think you can beat that for 22 bucks.
