It's such a sad, sad story (sob, sob, wiping a tear from my eye).

I put it through it's paces today and so far so good. Time will tell though. That grey wire hanging off my injection pump looks awfully ugly not being hooked up to anything.

Well I went and did it today. I tapped the wire. It just looked so lonely under the hood. I had to hook it up with something. So far I've only done 1x1 and EGT's are already up 100*. I did a half throttle 70mph run on 5x5 and I lost the rode behind me from the smoke. The tranny has held great for a month. It's only slipped once but that was my fault. I hit the lockup switch at 20mph and bogged it down to 1200 rpm and floored it. I'm pretty sure it's gonna hold 1x1 but I couldn't tell today cause everytime I got on it it spun the tires.

Well, You make it past the 1 month level in the poll.
But I would now like to change my vote from "Other".... to less than 6 months!!

Well you've lasted longer than 70% of the voters predicted. Congrats are in order =P

Like I said, I'm in the same boat as you- trying to baby my truck until I get a clutch. I was doing so good until yesterday. I had to stop on a highway due to traffic and just as soon as I begin accellerating, I look back and a ford truck is trying to pass me on the shoulder! I tossed a cloud at him and took off through the gears. I think 4th and 5th both slipped it. Now I've got to get into grandpa driving mode =\

I'm still betting that the tranny will last for a long time to come. If your not pulling a trailer, this is assuming that your tranny was in decent shape during the installation of an after market valve body. Towing is a different story. Mine lasted for 3 years, the mach 6'ers killed it off in 50km's. I lost OD and had no reverse.

I lost the stock converter towing my 10k trailer after 10000km, after that it was lasted quite a long time. These dodge trannies are more tougher than most give them credit for. I tell my dad (he owns a chevy duramax), who need a 5 speed auto, when you own a cummins with a boat load of torque.

I'm starting to believe that with just a simple VB upgrade, these trannies can take a fair amount of abuse. I don't tow at all so that helps but I do lug the engine a lot and run 35" tires with 3.54 gears. Time will tell how well this thing holds up. Come on tax return.

How is it shifting thru the gears? On mine, I had an idea that my OD was its last leg. The last six months mine got more lazy shift to it going from 3 to 4. Sometimes it wouldn't shift. Towards the end it would clang smash into OD gear. Running 1400ft*lbs on a stock tranny, who would have thought it would even work. How long does your tranny take to engage your reverse gear? Another way to check the tranny is pull the test port plugs on the your tranny and install a pressure guage. Thats would give you an good idea what you got and how everything is working. You service manual will show you how. You might need to change tranny oil every now and then. I hate giving back good cores, mine the only good piece was the casing.

It's still shifting as great as it ever did. No lagging going into OD, 1-3 shifts are nice and fast and firm, reverse engages nice and solid. I don't like giving back good cores either. When the day comes to replace mine, I'm gonna have a LOT of fun. Chris at relentless did a pressure check before and after the VB and he said everything was in the dead center of the specs and that everything looked great. Fluid change is due but it'll have to wait a little bit. Overall I'm extremely impressed with the VB. I guess Stefan at DTT knew what he was talking about.

BigBlue I was wondering if you knew what pressure you VB was set at? I'm setting money aside for my TC right now and I'm getting pretty close to the goal...

The reason I asked about the VB pressures is because when I install my TC I'm going to take my truck back to my local tranny guy that installed my shift kit to see what my pressures are and hopefully they can turn it up a wee bit more. And then next is a extreme duty rebuild from either suncoast or DTT with some billet upgrades...

IIRC, it was set at I think 150psi at WOT. Don't quote me though.
