My only guess is it has something to do with the higher rpm and plate design.

TST told me that the #6 and #8 plates were designed for auto trucks and would not work well with a GSK. They also said that the #10 plate was designed for a manual truck (215 pump) and would not work well with an auto except with a GSK (lots of torque and not much HP). I was talking to Mark Chapple who I believe is the head of TST (retired Cummins engineer). Maybe someone else can give an explanation.

In talking to TST and PDR Diesel apparently the plates were designed and tested by TST and the GSK's were designed by PDR Diesel.

a GSK will work just fine with a 6 or an 8 the only reason I could see them not recomending it is that the plates were designed to keep egts in check on a stock motor with a 6 or a 8 if you use all the rpms it may get alittle warm under load with the 10 on an auto all its power is in the midrange so you need the GSK for it to work well at highway speeds

This is what they answered me at TST when I asked why I shouldn't get 3000 gsk with my #6 plate.
"I would expect about 250 whp (wheel horse power) and 630 torque with your truck as described. Add the 3000 governor spring kit and I’d expect about 250 whp but torque would drop to about 300. That is the reason we don’t recommend a 5, 6, or 8 plate with the governor springs. The #4 plate would give you about 300 whp and 700 torque with or without the springs."

I can't understand how it is possible that torgue would drop that much. When I asked it from BD, they answered.

The info you received from TST is totally incorrect. The RPM Gov springs are totally separate from the Cam plate and do 2 totally different jobs. The Cam plate controls the amount of fuel and the Gov Spings control the RPM of the pump. You can put 3000 RPM gov spings in a stock pump and still see a huge improvement.
I would have no concerns in running the 3000 rpm gov springs with the cam plate you have and will will lose no hp or torq but will gain hp in the higher RPM’s.

Have anybody tried 3000gsk with #6 plate and have experience wich one is right.

Correct me if im wrong, the TsT #6 plate and the BD #6 plate are going to be ground slightly diffrent.
Given they are two diffrent companies offering completely diffrent opinions when it comes to a GSK kit.

I cant see where it would matter. Not sure what the #6 plate looks like but it probally defuels heavy on the top end not allowing you to make much power in the upper rpm range. I think the gsk is a great addition to any 12valve. the plate can be changed any time and or slid foreward.

Is it safe to say a proper fuel plate is better bang for the buck than a set of injectors if the present ones are fine?
