Am I missing something (12V performance)

I just want to get a few opinions of where I'm at.

Truck is used for occasional spirited driving, and also tows 17K gross 5-6 times a year. Total yearly mileage is about 5k. I am planning a trip to Alaska next summer, so reliability is important.

Anyway...heres the plan

Phat shaft 62/12 Turbo with HX40 downpipe
330 HP injectors
#100 plate
4 inch straight pipe
AFE air filter
Non EGR intake manifold / EGR deleted
3k GSK
Trans will be built semi-local

Pump Timing??? Still stock, should I get it turned up a little???

Did I miss anything important????

I really just want a fun truck that can still pull a load without the pyro going crazy.

Any estimates on RWHP with this setup?

Get the timing set to 16*-16.5*.
Do you have gauges?

I would hich up whatever you plan to tow and see how it runs. That #100 plate might get the egts a litte hot.

Also, think about installing a valet switch.

sounds like you had a ca pumpd truck from the comment about the non egr intake if so you had 131 delivery valves in your pump so larger delivery valves to run those injectors like some 181's atleast. maybe some valve springs and id bump pump timing with 330 injectors. just curious why you opted for 330's instead of DD2's or DD3's or for that mater 370's my 300's were smokier than my 370's at idle and at WOT and ultimately i didnt care for the haze that all my marine injectors made so i stepped up and bought some lennys EDMs the next time around and they made a world of difference.

Maybe an exhaust manifold some studs for the head would be smart

Lots cleaner and lower egts

I also love my DDP injectors. I went from marine 370s that would just abou kill you at idle from the haze to New Era 370s, these were a nice injector, but still hazed at idle. I finally bit the bullet and paid up the money for my DDP4s. They are some of the best money I spent on the truck.
No idle haze, cooler egts than the 370s and about 50 more horsepower.

I went with the 330's for price mostly. I don't seem to notice any haze at idle. I do get some good black smoke if I stab the pedal quick, but its very easy to control.

I forgot to post that I will be changing to a pulse exhaust manifold when I bolt on the turbo.

I will look into the timing change and the bigger delivery valves.

Now how about that Valet switch...I guess I need to do a search and figure out how you do that on a 12 valver.

Any guesses on HP with all the mods listed so far?

If you are going to do delivery valves, 181s are the biggest you can go with and still tow.
A valet switch is just a 12v solenoid tied into the afc boost line with a toggle switch in the cab. When the valet is switched off, you see full fueling. When it is switched on, your afc doesnt function and only sees partial fuel.

You can either put one together yourself, or buy one like this one:

Okay, Did some searching on the Valet...Think I have that covered.

I am seeing some differeing opinions on DV's, some folks are saying they cause heat to go up more than the power gain warrants?

Any comment?

Also my truck is a CA equipped 180hp model with EGR

Would that have the 131's, or does a 180 hp truck come with 181's

Is there anything in between I should consider? And where do you get 181's, All I see listed on most sites is the 191's and Laser cuts?

You should look into studs and possibly head work.

Wastegate on the new turbo is set to 40 PSI...shouldn't be an issue, right?

Cool, I've been trying to figure that out for sure.

Well, with advanced timing and all that fuel, I know if I wanted piece of mind I'd at least do studs, 12mm is fine.

Really don't want to run studs (YET). Is this really going to be a problem right away?

Anyone else care to share an experience of blowing a gasket on 40psi or less?

One more thing. Looking at these DV's and they seem to be the best of both worlds??? Any thoughts on them instead of the 181's ?
