I've had aluminized on my truck since 2002 and it has no rust. Personally I wouldn't waste the money on stainless. The diesel exhaust isn't as corrosive as gas burners. And mine is a 5 inch system from bigexhaust.com I'm not sure if they are even still in business.

I had Jethot spray a black costing on my Terry Houston Downpipe for my Buick that worked well and handled the EGTs that thing made. It would have the downpipe glowing so hot that you could see through it.

You shouldn't need anything over 500* paint on the system except you might want to put 1000* on the downpipe. Your EGT's are measured IN the manifold the outside would be cooler than that, and EGT's measured after the turbo are generally 300* cooler than the manifold EGT's...

I weld for a living so metal is my life, and i do a lot of custom exhaust work for friends and other people,, stainless still wont just crack from getting cold,it would have to be cooled off very fast like if u were running it for a while and got it really hot and then ran it through high water and let it sit in it till it cooled,,,, but then then it would then have to be in some type of bind to crack then... Can can take a 1/16 piece of stainless steel weld on it heat it up with a torch to where its glowing and let it cool and its fine,,, i can even cool it with water and its fine its when u cool it in some sort of a hard bind and cool it rapidly,,, and still that doesnt happen often...
go stainless it will last longer and u dont have to patch holes later on,,but eather will work.

on another note i like to replace exhaust very often just to see if i can make it louder or get a different tone out of it,on my last truck i changed the exhaust 5 times in less than a year before i finally got what i wanted, so if u are going to be changing it go with aluminized

Living in Chicago because they use salt in the winters, I only buy the 304 Stainless Systems.
Aluminized systems dont last that long.
I think it has to do with the road salt.
