I already have a 5 inch exhaust system which uses a 4 inch dp that bottlenecks into 3 inch to fit the stock turbo. My question is can I use this flange to mount to an hx40 style turbo?

Do I just cut off the 3 inch section and clamp this in place? How do these work? has anyone used one?

It will fit your exhaust (you can weld 3.5" inside of it or 4" on the outside of it) and it's a vband flange so you'll need the clamp as well. Depending on how long your transition from 3 to 4" is, you'll might have to add a short piece of 4" to it for it to reach.
