Variable Bleed solenoid is a PWM solenoid it just acts a bit different. The frequency is so high on VBS that the ball actually floats in position instead of a pintle opening and closing rapidly on a PWM solenoid. The ally trim solenoids are VBS. The TCC is a PWM @ 100hz. In 06 they switched over to VBS on all three. They all are centered around 1Khz, but are submodulated to improve efficiency and extend solenoid life.

but on the '06 trucks the TCC solenoid is still PWM correct?

so a 2006 trans could not be driven by a 3rd gen TCM??

off topic, but I figured you would know brayden.......what makes the co-pilot so special and how does it get the TCC to lockup sooner than the TCM could force it to?? Why does it take so long to lock the TC under big power and WOT?

All the "Trim" solenoids on the 06 are VBS @ 1 Khz.

A 3rd gen TCM would be able to drive a 2006 VB but the frequency for TCC wouldn't be correct and would cause poor engagement quality, and the A&B trims are a newer style solenoid with different characteristics.
So... Yes & No.

The co-pilot isn't special... It just locks the TCC when they want.. Just like my TurboBrake does.

If you look in EFI, The higher the throttle rate, the farther it pushes TCC engagement. It helps to save the TC Clutch. They don't want to lockup until the ratio between engine and turbine are close to each other. Otherwise the clutch has to "bring down" a large speed differential which creates heat and reduces clutch life.

But with a triple disk and a more efficient converter you don't have to worry about it as much.

but what does the co-pilot valve in the valve body do?

people say you cant duplicate a co-pilot with TCM tuning alone...?

I thought you said ALL ofthe allison A and B trrim solenoids are VBS, but right above you say only the 2006 ones are?

I never said the A&B trims weren't VBS. You get confuzzled easily.

Here's the breakdown...

2001-2005 A&B Trim are VBS TCC is PWM

2006 + A&B & TCC are VBS

You can't duplicate a Co-pilot with tuning, at least not the pressure enhancement that it provides. That's what the extra solenoid does.

Ya I've already talked to Gabe , I'm willing to pay for his services , just do not have the funds at this time , but I do , do a lot , almost all my own work , and knowing about my equipment is part of owning , maintaining it .

Makes sense. Maybe someday I can offer a full kit, but there are so many small parts and detailed brackets etc that are required to make the conversion factory appearing that it would consume too much time.

I have done quite a few and Gabe has done a few as well and they get better every time.

If you are willing to do the small stuff, the adapters and everything else are available now!

Brayden,

Do I need to disconnect the batteries when I hook up my new TCM? Gabe, said he thought you shipped already.
