i have a friend that has a full blown ats in his duramax. with the new billet flywheel. something happened and it sheared off all the torque converter bolts. sounds a lot like this.

Well ATS in their infinite wisdom designed a BILLET flexplate.. hmm... How does a flexplate "FLEX" if it's made out of billet?
Flexplates are supposed to flex. But they must know something that we don't.
If all clutchpacks were applied at once, you create a transbrake, a very good one at that! Which isn't a bad thing when you're stopped. But is very bad when you are going 60 mph.

can you set up the PCM with a switch that will engage all the clutches? Im thinking it would make a good spoolup tool for launching at the strip, like the drag cars do. I rode in a mustang auto with a blower and stuff, the guy had a trans brake or something in the tranny, he put it in drive, floored it, hit a button and my head hit the seat haha, it was a rush!

Holding the brakes, and building boost will do the same thing. Seems like it wouldnt be as hard on the tranny as a transbrake, but I really dont know. I know when my cousin(teddybear) does a 15lb launch with his built Goerend it feels like you are on a roller coaster. it puts your stomach in your throat
Gabe32: Is there any way you could get video of something like a standing start WOT run with the camera viewing the tach/speedo? I think a lot of us here would like to see that to see how well it shifts etc. Im sure the only real way to know much about it would be to ride in it, but just a video would make it a lot easier to understand how it shifts. Or even a video of just some driving around would be cool. Its understandable if you cant get video of it, but it sure would be cool

I'm pretty sure at the level of torque you guys are putting out, that there isnt a chance in heck that you could get one to survive a trans brake launch.
Lets put it this way, if you could get the tranny to survive, having the rest of the driveline unloaded and shocking it with that much torque wouldnt be pretty.
My 70 Nova with a blown 489 is pretty rough on even super duty driveline components, and its only in the 1K ish torque range when I let go of the button.
