Air Intake System
Am I better off putting in a K&N air intake system or an BHAF??? Is one better on mileage, horsepower, performance, etc. than the other?

I was told that the oil will make your map and iat sensor dirty and hurt mpg. I got rid of my k&n and went to bhaf but I have not cleaned off my sensors yet to see a differance

I wouldnt go with a K&N, I had one in a toyota and it seemed to let a lot of dirt in. I have S&B on both of my trucks and have no dirt in my tubes and they have been on nearly two years. I have never had a problem with the sensors either.

I've got an OEM style K&N that seems to work fine. Changed my IAT sensor awhile back and the old one seemed fine. Will probably go with an improvised ***** Whistler next time. $6 Lowes A/C heating 4" to 6" adapter and a 6" BHAF type filter....

It is super easy to put on a bhaf. I did mine in about an hour all you need is the filter and a short piece of four inch exhaust to use at the joit to stiffin it up. Take out old air box put exhaust in end of filter slide inside of the intake tube clamp down and it's on. It up to you to make a heat shield and a craddle for the filter

I run an AFE with a prefilter bag, in the dusty conditions up here in northern alberta i don't get dust in the intake at all. I don't think an oilded filter will hurt any of the sensors in our trucks. The oil only seams to hurt mass air flow sensors, wich we don't have.

needed? No but you should put one in so you are not pulling the heat off of the turbo. I have not made one yet for mine but I plan to go to a local shop(prime buildings) that specializes in sheet metal and tin. They can make custom sheets so I will take some measurement to them and have one made. I am sure there is an easier way but I don't know it
