air intake aystems

Here I am. LOL
The Scotty no longer uses the aFe filters. It uses a two stage foam UNI filter.
The best way to use the Scotty Air II is with the cowl hole. It will reduce the EGT better then any other kit out there...as long as the turbo is still in its efficiency range. That applies to all air intakes.
Also, I do not suggest the Scotty Air II for folks at stock or 50-70 added HP. The BHAF works great for that.
What a lot of people have done is to cut the hole and when they do not want OPTIMUM cooling and a quieter cab, then put the insulation flap over the hole and just draw air from the factory side inlet.
Its not mandatory to cut the hole and some folks would not think of doing this to their truck. That is their choice. I know I did not want to cut a hole in my roof for a cb antenna.
With the new UNI filter I have had reports from folks seeing less then 6PPM of silicon and they are only cleaning the outer layer and then cleaning the entire filter every second cleaning.
If noise is an issue, the Turbo Air Guide reduces it lots. I get varying replies about the noise.
Some love it, some hardly notice it and some cannot tolerate it.
For a 2nd gen truck in the 350-450 range with a stock turbo, this really shines and the more you throw at it the better it works. Its great with the bigger single chargers too.
Hope this helps. They are available in the online store here and purchasing it helps the site with its financial needs.
Thanks for all the great feedback and kind words for an air intake that truly does SUCK...

At 400 HP you will benefit more from the cowl hole [cowl induction ] then using just the fender inlet.

I am amazed how well the Scotty II works with the hole covered up for daily driving! With the insulation folded back over the hole...no one will ever know it's there. No reason I can see for being reluctant to cut the hole.
Nice to have the hole for playing hard! Picture in my gallery...if interested.
