scotty air systems, of the AFE are the big ones out there, but you can build you own with the BHAF and a home made heat shield...

as for beign better than stock...makes a world of difference in getting air to that hungry turbo, plus it sounds a million times better!

Hey guys, this is my first post. I have been reading off & on for about a year. In ref. to the post of "build your own" air box, is there an article on this forum with details? I am a new (00 2500, auto, 70k) Diesel owner and I have been considering some low budget mods, primarily with air intake and exit. I would like an opinion on both mods. including size of exhaust, materials, vendor and info for air box

You dont have to drill the hole with the Scotty.
I like the closed box the Scotty has to offer.

Only if you want, I dont own one (no fit with twins ) but from what I have read most owners dont drill the cowel they just pull the air from the side. Hopefully Scotty will chime in here as hes the expert. I think the scotty also has a new redesigned filter thats supposed to be better.

for outright performance (450+ hp) you iwll want to go with the Scotty 2. For less hp the AFE stage 1 or 2 is really good as well.

i love my afe and have never seen my filter gauge even drop at all after having it for a year. i don't beleive the scotty is better for high hp. scotty uses the same type of filter and you can cut a hole in the fire wall for an afe too. once the hood is closed on an afe it is a concealed unit. i'm not knock the scotty heard lots of great things about it and its cheaper. you can't go wrong choosing one of the two
