Question Air Horn

Has anyone tried installing an aftermarket air horn in their rig? If so, what brand? How was installation? How does it work for ya?

My horn sounds like a mortally wounded mouse when I hit the buttons... and the replacement stock horns are over $90...

I went with a Grover Air Horn Kit.
Horns, compressor, air tank solenoid, lines ,,,,everything included 'cept the truck, labor, and "Adult Refreshments".

Installed using these instructions.

Nice setup.

Thanks Ed. That looks great! Is it one of those that makes folks apologize whether it's their fault or not?

Installed in the "stealth mode", it's one of those touches that will automatically change the interior color of the snooooozin' bozo's car in front at the light on the cell phone in one hand, and the $tarbuck$ tripple lattee in the other to a nice "Mocha" hue.

At the time I bought mine, they weren't selling a pump and tank - if they had, I definately would have bought those!

I would LOVE to have train horns on my truck. They're just so expensive!

They have the distinct train sound, too.

If only it weren't some $600 for the horns and a compressor/tank kit. Afraid that will never be in my budget unless I win the lottery or find a used compressor/tank setup somewhere.

I have your airtank problem solved. Find a junked big rig and get one of its air tanks.

Well if you dont want the tank there are places on evilbay and Griots Garage I think its called that sell horns that are are electric hookup, but have a little compressor in them, supposed to be like 139db at 4ft. They arent too expensive either, like $40 on Griots, mabye $20 or $30 from evilbay here is the link to it at Griots.

The other option is the one mentioned above with the air tank off an old big rig. Then either a 12V air compressor or one of them ones you put directly on your engine would be nice. Then you could even run air bags as well. Holy your getting me all excited I better stop.
Anyways good luck.

I dunno... kinda like the idea of the air horns! That way the offending car driver apologizes whether it's their fault or not!
