with a BHAF do you have to bolt it down to that fender or how does it sit there off the factory tube to the turbo? the old box is bolted how does this one sit there? thanks

i know the heat shield bolts where the stock air box does and the bhaf just sits there, but i have seen guys use two pieces of 1" angle and a hose clamp to secure it. you can find pics on here that show the angle you just have to search for bhaf in member photos i think.

I went with a AFE torque tube (lost my stock air tube), and a baldwin BHAF. Gotta love that turbo whistle, and much better air flow.

I noticed you mentioned possibly going with an Amsoil filter. I bought the Amsoil air filter # EaAU 4510 to use as my BHAF about 4 months ago. So far I like it alot. I would definitely buy one again if doing it over again. Installation was simple. All that was needed was a piece of either 4" Sch. 40 PVC or ABS plastic pipe. I used the PVC since I had some. The flange on the EaAU 4510 has an inside diameter of 4.5" which is what the outside diameter of 4" Sch. 40 PVC is. Also, the stock pipe from the stock airbox to the turbo is about 4.5" inside diameter...it's actually a little tighter than that but still slides in fairly easy. So, all I had to do was slide the filter on one side of the pipe and the stock rubber pipe onto the other. I think I cut the PVC to be around 3-4" long. The only thing I would suggest is roughen the sides of the ends of the pipe that you slide into the airfilter flange and the stock pipe-to-turbo because PVC can be pretty smooth and may slide a little if you just let the airfilter rest on the heat shield without holding in place somehow. Also, I made a heat shield from the template that can be found from a search here. The only thing I did different was make a support that elevates the airfilter off the heat shield and simultaneously clamps down on the body of the airfilter to keep it from moving around. If I can ever figure out how to use my wifes digital camera and post pics, I'll try to get some on here so what I'm trying to describe makes sence.

AMSOIL is coming out with an intake system for these trucks. However only 3rd gens will be out in December with the 94-02 in the works for spring 2008.

well i just installed my BHAF today and i love it. sure makes the trubo whistle...i had a k&n drop in filter but it allowed too much dust and other fine particles to enter my engine. heck i just set the filter in the stock air box place and it fitted fine and didnt wiggle alot.
