I'd say either BHAF (with a heat shield is better) or, if money isn't an issue, AEM with Dryflow filter. They're both basically the same but the AEM comes with the fancy intake pipe and sticker.

i just installed a BHAF & heat guard with the fleetguard ($50 @ local kenworth)... i don't have a egt guage & i haven't noticed any gain in MPG... i'm hoping it's just that i have just been filling up with winter fuel... turbo sure does sing though

I run the ICEBOX that MATTIEBOB mentioned. They use a reusable AMSOIL Nanofiber air filter. You can get at look at the ICEBOX at www.iceboxmanufacturing.com.

The turbo will suck the contents out of your glove box if you get a BHAF.

Seriously tho... do you want noise or not. The BHAF is great for airflow, but it the turbo will be much louder. If you want good flow, but quieter, keep it in an enclosed box. Either a drop in, or a completely new conical filter type setup like AFE or others.

I personally have the Amsoil's newer oil-less drop-in. But I don't like turbo whistle for hours while towing. As far as EGTs... it really didn't make a positive or negative difference from what I can tell. But it IS easier to clean - just blow it out.

Run a search for ****** wistler, homemade intake. He made his for a 3rd gen, but I just got a few different parts and I'm running one too! It's awesome with an amsoil filter that's 6" around on the intake side (towards the turbo) and 5" on the other end. It's about 12-14" long. I'm not sure if anything is gonna beat it for pulling in air.

my dad has a sb intake on his truck it looks nice sounds nice, and gave his truck a noticable power gain i can't say much about his egt's becuase he didn't have gauges yet. he added an full intake from sb and a full 4" turbo back from mbrp and there was pretty nice gain in power and torque. so i would buy the sb if you wanna spend about 230 dollars on a nice lookin and functional intake, but if your on a tight budget i would just go with the BHAF, im undecided which route im gonna take but right now i have a k&n drop in filter that my truck came with so im leanin towards the bhaf seeing as how i found it on the internet for 35 or so on vulcan performance.
