Is this AIR FILTER safe for my truck?
I am running a K&N filter with the stock housing. A few guys at work said they would never run it cause they have noticed that the fine glaicer dust makes it through the filter and into the turbo. They have seen the fine powder on the turbo side of the box. I have been checking mine every week and have had no problem's yet. Thinking of going to the ScottyII system, how does that handle fine particals?

In practical terms, my truck spends 3 months of the year in barley dust that somehow manages to make it inside the cab of the truck, even when the windows are closed. In other words, its super fine crap that works its way into everything. I haven't had an issue with one of these filters, and actually I found that my turbo intake hose was cleaner than the stock paper element.

Rod

The Scotty Air II filter system is unbeatable, Nothing gets to the turbo without going through the filter first. The inlet hose attaches directly to the filter and it is a very tight seal.

The stock box is really iffy when it comes to maintaing a good seal, some guys do have success with them, but do you really want to chance it in a high dust area?

JMHO

Back in the Gulf war the our helicopters couldn't run in the high dust and sand conditions so the military had K&N make air filters for the choppers. That has got to say something about the quality this company produces. And they only cost about $70-$80. Thats a lot cheaper than some of the others. Mine works great!
