air filter?

I have a stock replacement k/n air filter and was wondering if I would notice much difference if I bought one of the air intake systems that I see advetised? Any suggestions on manufactures would be apprieciated.

I'm running a Volant intake system and it is loud. You can hear it sucking air down the driveway. Sometimes I wonder if I stand to close whether it will suck me in!

I guess what I'm asking is,am I going to notice a power increase over the kn filter?
My turbo is plenty loud enough, for three hundred bucks I hope to feel a power gain!
thanks, Rich

You will not notice a big hp gain with any of them....you must add fuel and air to make power....Power costs....not only do you have to upgrade the intake, you must also go to a 4 inch exhaust (or 5") as well as adding MORE fuel.

PS, great looking truck!

BTW, K&N's dont seal well at all and let through WAY too MUCH dirt.....not the best choice for a diesel application. Scotty 2, AFE megacannon, or BHAF are your best choices.

When I went from stock 265 tires to 285s I didnt notice any power loss. But when I stepped up to 315s I sure did. I went and had the dealer recalibrate the speedometer and that brought my shift points back but still lacking power that I was used to. I know these tires are alot bigger and heavier and thats the price I have to pay. I am hoping that an intake system will help untill I can afford to modify the trans.

what are you planning on doing to the truck if you plan on putting a programmer on it then you need to get an intake system. i had a k/n in mine at first but after adding some fueling mods my air filter gauge was sucked completly to the bottom. i bought an afe intake and love it if you start adding mods the k'n wont cut it
