Aftermarket Stereo
My stereo to say the least, it stinks. One of the amps on the front speaker is bad order so only one side works and I want to put in something that is mo better.
What you got?
Did you use factory wiring?
What speakers did you get and where?

Speaker Set Up
I took the 6x9's out and traced a template onto 1/4" louan(plywood) , marked the screw holes and cut out a hole for some 6.5". In my experience the 6x9 wont handle as much power and to get around that thats what I did. It mounted in the same holes and no cutting on the door itself. I ran new wires too. The factory ones are probably ok but thats just me! I am in the process of building a fiberglass box for the back under the seats, When it is complete and installed Ill post pics.. Good luck,.

I put in two JL Audio 10w1v2's under the rear seat and powered them with a 1200 watt mtx 4-channel amp. the other two channels i used to power the stock 6x9's and tweeters. I ran new 12gauge wire up to the 6x9's which also powered the tweeters off the amp and same with the subs. the 5's or whatever they are in the rear doors i just cut the wires to. it sounds great once i got my amp and deck (pioneer) tuned in right for the subs and all.
what would be the correct way to bridge a set of subs?? take the outside + from the amp to the + of one sub then that subs - to the + of the other sub then that subs - to the outside - of the amp?? Never got a strait answer thanks

Ok this is what I do for a livin so here goes. First it depends on what you are wanting it to sound like? There are kick panels from q logic about 80 bucks or so that will hold a 5 1/4 and a 1 1/2 tweet that really help the sound from the front. The rear speakers in the rear panels are 5 1/4 as well and they are pretty much useless with subs ( cannot hear them anyway) but if you choose to put good ones in there go with at LEAST a two way or a component set. Another thing is do you have infinity sound with tweets in the door? If so you can put a good set of 6x9s in the doors with the factory tweeters or upgrade those as well. There is opinions out the wazoo for whats better so find a brand that YOU like and go with it. If you have a aftermarket deck there will be more treble than mids and bass than stock. Some like that because its more clear. If you choose good 6x9s you will get some bass out of them. IMO good starting brands that are good and low cost would be panasonic, pioneer, or some jvc's. now if you want to spend about 100 bucks for a set of 6x9s go with some kicker or alphasoniks they sound the best without a big amp. I dont know what your specific application is but you need to find out what color wire is your positive on the doors FIRST. If you need dome speaker help pm me and I can help you.
