Re:Aftermarket Shocks
The Rancho in-cab remote 9000 adjustment was the worst investment I've made so far in my '01, and I paid under $140 for it. Won't hold pressure for any more than an hour or so.

So far I like them.
Realistically, do you ever adjust them??
Yes, I do adjust them. 90% of the time I carry 1200 lbs in my truck for work and it makes it a more comfortable ride on a higher setting and when I'm running empty I soften the damping. It takes but a few seconds and I'm happy.
I use the Rancho 9000x 9-way adjustables w/ in cab remote. I adjust them accordingly (either empty or towing). They make a big difference!

Tony
Re:Aftermarket Shocks
It took a little bit of time to run all the hose, other than that it wasn't bad. As far as how it works, well, Scotty seems to have good luck with his, I'm still working on mine. I just installed everything in November so it was kinda' cold out and I haven't gone back out to fix it up. My rears slowly leak out by the time I leave work and the fronts leak out in about an hour or two. It's no big deal to just reach down and crank 'em back up, but they should stay pumped for at least a week. Rancho does claim that some air will leak out... :

I'm going to take it apart when it get's warmer and recheck everything. The hose needs to be cut perfectly straight, that's where most of the problems with the system are. I have gone thru and re-cut all mine and that's why the air stays as long as it does now.

Overall, I think it's a pretty cool feature. Beats having to climb under the truck and adjust each of them manually. ;D

Re:Aftermarket Shocks
My rears will leak down overnite but not all the way.
The fronts have never leaked down.
I will look at the rears and make sure I have the tubing cut straight as the connections are snug.
Otherwise I like the adjustability and its great to have that on days like today....its been so cold that I had to lower them down to 2 at the rear and 2.5 in front...too choppy with the hard tires otherwise in this cold.

These are supposed to be nice for the Rancho adjustables: https://george.he.net/~marks1/mcsstore/index.htm
I don't have them, but several people on a list I get have installed them and rave about them. I can't seem to make the link clickable, I guess the bbs software doesn't like the tilde in the address.

The guy selling those built an absolutely insane custom lift for his Ram, too. Apparently he has access to a fully-equipped machine shop and waaaay too much time on his hands...

Re:Aftermarket Shocks
The best solution is Bilsteins in the front BE5-2549's around $65.00 each at Auto Zone. If you are not running heavy then keep the OEM's on the rear. If you are towing a 5th wheel and then running empty put Rancho 9000's on the "REAR" only. Bilsteins are the high quality shock. Several members of the TDR have had both and say that the Rancho 9000's do not compare with the Bilsteins. I have had the Bilsteins on a 2000 3500QC 4x4 ETC auto front and rear and now I have them on a 2002 3500RC 4x4 ETH/DEE just on the front. I run empty most of the time and the OEM rears are good enough that with the Bilsteins on the front I get a great ride. Only cost $130 ;D JMO
