aftermarket fog lights

my 2001 Ram didn't come with fog lights. I was looking at these

How would I wire these in, is there wires on truck that I can tap into?

i just added driving and fog lights on my truck.

i wired them in completely separate from the factory wiring. i made my own harness/relay setup instead. i have two small toggle/paddle switches with led's built into them. when they are on, the leds will light up, and go off if they are not on. i mounted the two switches in the overhead console - between the reading lights in the small blank panel. i mounted the two relays on my aFe air box.

you may also have a truck which has the harness from the factory, but without the lights. have a look under the bumper for a couple of unused plugs, you might get lucky. look well though, mine were hidden. if they are there, you can use them, and then just get a switch from a truck with foglights (dealer or wrecker).

another option is to do a hybrid of the two methods mentioned above. you can use the factory triggers (low beam, or fogs) to trip a relay which will power the lights. a on-off-on switch is best for this as you can either have the factory wiring control the lights, or you can manually control them in the other 'on' position.

right now, i am running the first method i mentioned, but will soon be switching to on-off-on switches so i can have full control over what i want the lights to do. this method is not hard, but it is quite time consuming.

you have lots of options here, do some research and ask away . . .

I have very limited electric knowledge so I don't really mess with custom wiring and all that.

If there's factory wiring, where should I look for it? Next to headlights or?

no they'd be located near that front crossmember btw the frame rails; either in front of it or behind it. Probably between it and the bumper but they could be hidden. Mine had fog lights factory and they run through the holes in that front crossmember under the radiator. Good luck. A buddy of mine bought those exact ones off ebay. I think if you just plug them in you get the center part to light up when the fog's are supposed to be on but to light up the ring around the edge requires tapping into the factory harness or making your own switch for it. They're just for looks though, not noticable during opperation. I installed the regular stock looking replacements as one of mine broke during a wheeling accident. They work great too. Good luck!
