Aftermarket Exhaust,Help or Hurt
Hey yal,
I have a 01 CTD HO 6spd DRW 4X4,its all stock except for a K&N
and the silencer ring removed. My question is if I put on an aftermarket exhaust like a 4 inch from the turbo back will this affect the performance of my truck now.The reason I ask this I put a 4 inch cat back system on my freinds 97-2500 that we bought from MOPAR DIRECT CONNECTION and it killed all bottom end on his truck.I dont want to make the same mistake.
I think you guys really got your $#!*on these trucks,I enjoy reading it all.

I put on the complete stainless 4" system from the turbo back and a PacBrake at the same time. Mine seems to be more responsive at the low end. The turbo spools up much faster. Sounds great too

If you're going to a 4" exhaust for performance reasons, there will be no gain in hp over a stock system until the 350 hp level, and then it will ony be around 5 ponies. I never saw faster spoolup, that I could tell, on my '01 HO by going to a Jardine system (very nice). May folks report lower EGTs, but mine, if anything, went up when running empty.

If you install a HX40 turbo, you'll have to convert to 4".

Sound and looks of a 4" are definately better over a stock system in my opinion, and that's where the real value probably is.

Went to a 4" dual stack system from Jannetty' you have to think back and remember that the first mods. most of us do is intake and exhaust to let those big pumps breath, so let it breath...let it breath.

I put the Banks exhaust on my truck shortly after purchasing it. The turbo spools up a little faster, it was easy to install, sounds great and the polished SS tip is cool. ;D

Installed the Banks 4" stainless steel exhaust system and power elbow from turbo back. Did alot of other modifications at the same time so I really can't say if it helped or hurt. However it was easy to install, it looks great and sounds great. Add a Scotty II and it is music to your ears! ;D, (Everything together helped a bunch!)

Re:Aftermarket Exhaust,Help or Hurt
Plain & simple if you like the snap on the bottom, Don`t change the system. I know this might stir some up, But I got Dyno time to prove it, and with some systems you can lose alot. But if you have plans on going up on HP you will at some time need to change to a system.
Danny
