Question Aftermarket air intakes/filter boxes

What would you recommend for an aftermarket air intake/filter box? I've seen ads by Volant and noticed one on this site by Scotty's as well. Anybody try these?

Aftermarket intakes

costal_diesel,

The aftermarket ones are good,

Why not just buy yourself a BHAF, make your own heat shield, put on an outerwears cover for much less costs ?

Its up to you & your ability to install.

I would spend the $$$$ on other motor stuff.

Volants are supposed to be good, I like AFE intakes - more money up front than a BHAF, but you never have to buy another one, and if you don't want all the noise you can get the stage II - barely louder turbo noise than stock airbox but all the airflow you could want

Is BHAF short for big honkin *** filter or what? Where can I find one? I have a K&N and modified the stock box, are there really any better gains to be had with another setup?

BHAF=big honkin air filter, a lot of guys on here seem to like them, its just a big round paper filter like on medium duty trucks. If your truck is stock the K&N will flow plenty of air, if it's kicked up, then an airbox could help, the stock airbox just won't flow enough air.

So do I need anything other than one of these filters to fit it to my truck?
