Re:after market wheels
15" won't clear brakes. Some of the late model 16" stock mags won't fit earlier models w/16" (or the other way around ???) I'm considering a set of Weld wheels and have been getting quotes around $275-300 ea. By the way anyone have opinion about whether to run 8 or 10" rims with the 265/75/16 Michelins? I eventually may go a little bigger but I've only got 14K on these.
Tim

Re:after market wheels
8" is perfect for the 265 all the way thru 295s even the 305-70-16 will fit.
10s are too much, also the offsets on most aftermarket wheels really aren`t high enough.
On 01 & up 5.5"~6" backspacing is what you should use/ problem nobody makes a cheaper (100~200$) wheel, you have to go to a Billet/custom manufacturer for correct offsets.
There are some 5' from Eagle Alloys and others.
Phoxs` looks great but now he needs flares to keep his truck clean. But he can check his tread depth while driving.
Looks Good Phox,
Danny

Lol, even the rears.
They show up pretty well in the mirrors.
As soon as I remedy the rubbing problem I'm going to get some fender flares.
I see boulders being flung onto my windshield if I don't.
10 inch would be too much for anything less than a 305.
The look perfect with the 315's.

Re:after market wheels
If there rubbing @ the back side when turned, you can move the adjusters on the lower arms at the axle to roll the bottom foward as in changing caster. do this while jacked at frame wheels off the ground, you`ll gain a 1/2" it also make the truck go frieght train straight.= more caster. and doesn`t effect toe setting. If truck pulls to 1 side or the other that means you didn`t move (that Side) far enough.
Danny

Re:after market wheels
15 inch wheels definitelly will not fit. Some are still available with the 8 hole bolt pattern, but these are mostly steel and used. American Racing makes wheels like in the picture. They are called "OUTLAWS II. They even make a 17 inch OUYTLAW II that sells for about $50.00 I have 16 inch OUTLAW IIs on my '99 Ram with 285 x 75R 16s. They rub on the dealer mudflaps but only under extreme suspension travel and when wheels are fully turned.

I had American Racing Outlaw II's on 2 of my previous trucks.
1974 Ford F250 (8 lug) and 1988 Toyota PU (6 lug)

I really liked them, but since they are cast instead of forged, I wasn't sure they could handle the front end weight.

The finish didn't hold up very well though, especially if not properly cared for, got dull and flaky.

That's why I decide to go with the Welds, similiar in looks and forged.
And the finish looks more permanent.

phox

Re:after market wheels
I just learned some dissapointing things about my truck. I am running the factory 16x8 rims with 305-70-16 tires. I wanted to upgrade to a set of 16x10 American Racing Outlaw 2s. When installed on the front of the truck they hit my running boards at about 1/2 lock on both sides. I then decided to try 16x8s, they hit the same spot at about 3/4 lock. All of this setting on level concrete. I am now staying with my factory rims for a while.
