Most folks will only know about the one they decided to purchase.

I went with the Scotty II, then upgraded to the new UNI filter for the Scotty when it became available.
If I had to purchase a replacement Air System for another truck, I'd definitely buy another Scotty.

I only have exp. with the AFE, and am very happy, which is the same thing I hear from everyone with the Scotty. If you like lotsa noise from the turbo use the Scotty, if you want to keep it quiet, use the AFE stageII. Don't have any feedback on the Quadzilla

My Scotty II isn't "Noisy", but I haven't cut the hole.
I rode in Scotty's truck as a passenger, his had the hole, and was equiped with several performance modifications and didn't find the turbo "noisy".

I guess noisy is a relative term.

My expirience, riding in trucks with both is this...
-The AFE, with the boxed in filter is very quiet.
-The AFE that sits exposed under the hood, has less turbo whine than the Scotty with the hole...but it has more air suction noise, as you add HP. I prefer the turbo whine to the air suction noise...JMO.
-The Scotty II, with the hole covered up, is very quiet...and usable for daily driving. It pulls more air than I expected it would.
-The Scotty II, with the hole exposed, will definately let you know the turbo is there. Many like it...many find it too much noise.
-The Scotty II is less expensive...and will handle all the HP you can throw at it.
-I too would buy another Scotty...should the need arise.

I'm hard of hearing & don't even hear my Scotty II. I have the hole cut & no silencer ring. I got the approval of the better half & she said it wasn't that noisy, even when pulling the 5vr. I know my egt's are down 200* when towing up a long grade over the stock air box.

I also vote for the Scotty II. The noise on the system is not more than running the BHAF without the Ring. I have re-installed my silencer ring and the air flow from the Scotty is amazing. It was a marked improvment over the BHAF...

Another point is the way the filter is protected from the elements. I had to do some mud bogging last month with all the rains we have had in the area and if I had my BHAF, I would have been sunk.

You can't beat the price for the SAII for the return. NONE of the other systems can claim the EGT reductions of the SAII.

Lil Dog makes a good point about the Scotty......while I am somewhat biased, I have yet to see any other filter give the same real-world egt reduction results as the Scotty......I have an AFE on my 94 and it is actually slightly louder than the Scotty II with the hole on my 98.5.....I get no complaints from my co-pilot (wife) about turbo noise with the Scotty. If you are buying a filter with egt reduction in mind, then I don't think there is a better choice than a Scotty II.

It's not JUST flow that makes the Scotty so nice. It's the fact that you're getting much cooler outside air to the engine.

I'd run the Scotty2. But I'm also biased because I consider Scotty a personal friend, and I know that he is constantly improving these things (note the change to a UNI filter from the AFE that was previously in there).

He is a straight shooter that will tell you if something's crap-- even if he made it

Now, if only I could figure out how to cut an 11" cowl hole for my experimental BHAF replacement

Justin, disconnect the batteries [optional] remove all parts that could burn [optional]

Plasma cut or torch the hole that most suits your application. You might want to remove the PCM and duct tape it to the fender.
