In addition to the drop-in having less surface area, the stock air box is fairly restrictive. I had a K&N drop-in and recently switched to a AFE PG7 - huge difference. The BHAF should be comparable to the AFE PG7 flow-wise, but without the expense (short term). Just be prepared for a good bit more noise. I had to reinstall my silencer ring to make my little lady happy.
I should say also that I could pull my filter minder down to 50% when the K&N was brand new. I'll be installing the filter minder in the AFE today - I'll let you know the results.

I had a K&N drop in and replaced it with an AFE stage 1. My boost went up 5psi and spool up is much quicker when I switched and all I had was a 10 plate and 3gsk. Top end stayed cool only getting up to 1200* before the 10 plate defueled. I'd say its worth the money to go to a cone filter.

have got a picture in my photo gallery if it's any use to you, the only diffrence to the pic now is the filter sits on a rubber mat which is stuck to the heat shield. some people clamp them some don't, mine isn't.
