Use the AFE pro guard 7 filter, it is a 7 layer filter and stops more dirt.
With regular oiled air filters (like K&N) you have watch for dirt build up on impeller blades. This will throw them out of balance and eat the turbo.
On the stage 1 or 2 get the one you like the best, either one will be a improvement over stock.

isissound,
It really depends on what and how major your mods are or will be, if you plan medium mods then the Stage I will do fine for you, if you plan injectors, Box, turbo etc etc then definelty go with the Stage II, it has a bigger filter and mandrel molded intake tube with a 56 inch ID that connects with the 6 inch ID on the filter and is made for folsk that want the MAX cfm of air etc. BIGROD is right get thje PG7 to protect your enigne, it's all we will sell as the 4 layer gauze just let in too much dirt etc. Call us if you have any questions etc we'll be glad to help.

No bubble to burst here.... Glad it works for you, its just that the dyno has shown a different story. This was on trucks running a much larger turbo than a HX35. I would suspect you would see the egt drop due to it pulling most of its air through the fender opening. I would really like it if AFE would take their stage 1 setup with the 6" filter for racing and make it with the air tube. I think this would be the hot setup for the high HP crowd.....

I have the race model in Pro-Guard 7 on my truck and I like it. It showed a noticeable drop in EGTs over a BHAF when I installed it. The noise is music to the ears and is quite a bit louder then the BHAF. I just wish the Pro-Guard 7 was available in something besides yellow. I'm probably going to put one of the new torque tubes on it also to see if there is a power gain over the stock accordian pipe air tube.

Where are you getting a Pro Guard 7 for my intakes?
I was always told they would not make one. If this is true, its good for those that perhaps chose not to get a Scotty because of the oiled filters being offered.
