Adrenaline Surge Updates

Well, I've got an update but not sure how it's gonna be relevant.
This morning I loaded up the ADR1k (that J Lent sent dated 4/15/08) tune, and have reinstalled it a few different times. "Surging" is gone as long as the truck isn't flashing "defueling". Basically whats that means is that this is one of the old tunes that would flash defueling.
E.g. Lightly accelerating or holding a steady speed this tune was SMOOTH. For the first 20-30 miles it didn't even so much as hiccup. Once the truck started flashing defueling (with no parameters even set), the truck would surge.
The ONLY time it surged, was when it was defueling. It did it to me with RPM's around 1800 lightly accelerating with traffic, holding steady at 40-50 mph, and holding steady from 60-75 mph.
So, the chip is turned off and I may be pulling it out tomorrow but at the very least maybe this can explain some of the surging we're experiencing? Could the tunes because defueling and that's why we get the surging and bucking?
HTH,
Shawn

I will have to try a new tune- the old 1000 started surging on me on the highway on every setting except 0 and 1. I will download the Comp tune again and see if it still surges.

I never did get a surge free download from DR1000.
But after switching to Comp tune.... I'm happy. I can drive it daily with only minor surging. Much easier to drive through surge on PL04 and above than on lower, more sluggish, settings.

I meant that the 1000 file I sent to you guys was a old tune with minor issues 'flashes defueling". I only used that file to clean the box of the surge & it seemed to work, but was only sent for that reason. Are you saying that you don't think the 1000 tune I sent actually made a difference? Thats what I'm trying to figure out, it may be just a good/bad download issue. That is why I tried just downloading the comp tune on my friends truck & it still had the surge until we reset it using the 1000 tune.

Could it be that the problem is that not all of the old program(tune) is being overwritten by the new one and the programs are becoming corrupted in this way. If that is what is happening then it seems like it would be fairly easy to solve by Quad coming out with a cleaning tune. This would be a program to force an overwrite of all of the available flash memory with either all 1's or 0's, just to insure that all of the old program was gone. Then you could install the tune of your choice with out any problems.
This is just the way it's looking to me and I've been wrong more than I've been right

Ran the COMP tune today. Holding in traffic at 40, no surge. Speed limit changed to 45 and I LIGHTLY accelerated to 45 and the truck started surging hard, with the RPM noticably bouncing probably 250-300.

I'm going to check the wire tap AGAIN in the morning. I've checked it like 4 times and it's always been a good connection, but I guess it never hurts to keep checking.
If yours is doing it on the TST too, then I'd have to suspect something other than the chips? E.g. trans, sensors, etc..

Well, to be clear it will do it on PL03 and above. I just happened to be on 7 at that point.
