Adjusting wastegate on my HTB2.

The wastegate on my HTB2 is set at 38psi right now. I would like to try a few more psi, say 40. Which direction does the shaft need to turn to gain a higher wastegate setting? thanks.

Has anybody adjusted a wastegate to gain more boost? Should I just call HTT?

You don't need to adjust the waste gate if you're using an adjustable boost elbow.

I'm pretty sure this HTB2 from HTT doesn't have an adjustable elbow.

It doesn't. You have to add it. A much easier solution than adjusting the waste gate.

I'd suggest a manual boost controller over an adjustable boost elbow. They do the same basic thing, but the manual boost controller uses a ball-and-spring setup that's MUCH more precise at setting boost levels.

Pick whichever one you like the best.

I agree, unless the budget is tight.

Thanks guys, I'll take a look at those. There are about 6 choices on that site, which have you used?

Are any of those boost controllers rated for over 30 PSI?

I adjusted the gate on my HTBG and it made a difference. Take the actuator rod off and screw it in(clockwise)....you need to shorten the rod. It is tough to put back on becuase of the pressure. I had the air line unplugged and put compressed air into it and it pushed the rod out so you can hook it back up. Hope that makes sense...and HTT told me to do this. By turning it in 3.5 turns I gained about 3psi.

Made a difference powerwise or just boostwise?

Those boost controllers will add X amount to the original wg setting. Since the factory gate is set at 21psi on a stock charger, the manual boost controller just has to ADD to that to get a certain boost value. If you want 31 psi from an HX35, the MBC just has to add 10psi.

Since your HTB2's gate is set at 38psi, you can get more boost easily because the MBC only has to add a couple psi.

MBCs delay wg actuation, so they only have to deal with ADDITIONAL boost, not total boost.

That's my understanding, anyway.

It increased the boost and becuase of that it seems a little quicker...but most importtantly the additional boost helped keep EGT's down a little on top end...atleast 50*. I reallt noticed the difference at elevation(7000ft).....the lower boost levels before were keeping the EGTs higher.
