Adjusting the wastegate

Pressurized system to about 15psi and it took like 1 1/2min to run back down to 0. So I put a pair of vise grips on the wastegate hose and whooosh passing 40 psi in nothing flat. Now I just need to know how to adjust the wastegate. Any tricks you all have to make it easier would be a huge help. It for some reason had less smoke on take off too. Merrick said he talked to Piers and he said that sometimes when the wastegate is set that low the wastegate itself could actually be partialy open at idle. Anyone else experienced this? I was really getting pi$$ed at all these problems but after feeling this thing on just a couple short run while making some boost has turned me from > to ;D

Re:Adjusting the wastegate

It is very difficult to adjust the wastegate with the turbo still on the truck. I would have to say since the wastegate seems like it is misadjusted that your best bet is to install a boost elbow. You can get this from Piers or any other Diesel Performance shop. It should fix your problem just make sure you don't make more than about 38psi.

Re:Adjusting the wastegate

It is an elbow that replaces the rubber line on the wastegate. No, it does not get rid of the wastegate, It just restricts the air that opens the wastegate.
