Put the frame of the truck on jack stands, unbold the u-bolts so the axle can drop down a little, put a c-clamp on the springs, unbolt the center pin, take the c-clamp off, put the add a leaf in, then repeat in reverse.

Ive got 2" spacers in the front of mine and add a leafs in the back with the stock overload spring in place. The top of the rear wheel well is a little over 3" higher than the top of the front so it should be pretty close. My plan is 4.5 or 5 inches of lift in the front to run 37's.

Pinkston- Where would I put the c-clamp?
lovinctd59- I put a 5" block on the back when I put the 5" lift on the front and the back sits about 1" lower so it would make it level out when I add the add a leaf.
Is there bigger then a 5" block that I could get?

You clamp the leaf pack together before removing the center bolt and then use the clamp to compress the new leaf up against the spring pack. At least that's what the directions on mine said to do. I just used the long centering bolt the kit came with to slowly draw the new leaf into the pack but a C clamp is a safer method.
Did you just add a block to the one already on the truck from the factory? A lot of people stack blocks, I'm just not a big fan of doing that. Very tall blocks weaken the suspension and promote axle wrap. Think of the block as a lever and when you accelreate the wheels try to go forward and push against the lever making the front half of the springs wrap up and that causes wheel hop. The more weight you are carrying the worse it gets. I think the leaf will be more than enough to get the back higher than the front if your only an inch down back there now. If the back ends up too high you can pull out the overload leaf and that would drop the rear about 3/4".
What kit did you go with for the lift?

Haven't been on here in a while, and don't want to hijack the thread but I have a question on the same topic. I installed the readylift 2.5 leveling kit in the front a couple of years ago, but it seems that the rear is sitting lower than it used to. I was wondering if there is a add a leaf that I can buy without buying a whole kit, I already have the front. I think 2" or less would do the trick.

I just got the leafs and bolts, not really a kit. Mine is from Superlift. My rear is higher than my front with a 2" leveling kit. If you leave the overload leaf out it'll be closer to level.
