? About Fuel/Torque Plate

When I change to a #8 or #6 plate do I need to change the AFC springs or just adjust the star wheel? Is there anything else I should do? I already have a set of gauges installed so I can monitor the EGTs. Also the auto tranny is stock. Should I go with the #8 plate or is the #6 ok. Thanks in advance.

If your going to put a plate in , just put in a #10 at the stock location , you will be very pleased , and with that setting , it won't be enough to seriously damage your tranny right away. You do not need to change the afc springs , but you could tighten up the star wheel a little to help control pre-boost smoke.

You can run the six

or the eight if you already have it, But the issues would be taht you would have to back them up from the stock location. Once you can modify your current transmission then you can bump the plate forward..

Thanks for the info. How far back do I need to move the #8 plate from the stock location?

I ran an 8 plate before my #10. The power comes on at a bit higher RPM with the #10 which gives your tranny a bit more time to build up more pressure to hold the power. A #10 combined with a 3K GSK is a great combination.

It is all trial and error,

no two trucks run alike, and no two drivers drive them alike, Least in my opinion, what you can do is try it at what is the stock position, and see how much slippage that you have. If it is drivable for you then u can leave it, if its not as drivable as ud like it, back to the drawing board..

Also take into consideration, your starwheel position, and your AFC housing positioning.. this will really help or hurt your lower end grunt, and your overall smoke level..

Good luck!

Will the #8 be too much for my tranny since it is stock?
