'99 fuel filter ,larger fittings?

Has anyone put in larger fuel line fittings in the stock '99 type filter houseing. Im going to make my own high flow, big line fuel system and want to know what others have done with the plumping fittings in/out of the stock fuel filter. Tap them larger for bigger fittings??

I know that my Bully dog system came with a special fitting for the stock LP. i think the threads are a straight pipe thread not tapered. I'm sure someone here will chime in with the correct size.

There are options besides the obvious aftermarket filter/pumps. I junked the whole thing and put on a remote fleegaurd spin on with higher flow and lower micron rating. It gives me a nice view of the side of the block now. It was too much of a pain to run the lines up there.
