98 to 01 knuckle switch for better brake options

Ok I looked at my 98 to day and the front caliper mounting brackets r part of the knuckle they do not bolt on like my 01 caliper mounting brackets do. Thus the 03 brake upgrade will not work on a 98 knuckle. Now for the question does any one know if a 01 style knuckle will bolt up to a 98 and if so where to get some?

I think the issue is the orientation of the ball joints being different from the 01 to the 98 knuckles - maybe I'm wrong? On my '01 the tapered ball joint stud seats in the knuckle. I think, and maybe I'm wrong, the 98 axle seats the tapered stud into the inner "C" on the axle housing - does that sound right? I seem to remember that from looking at a friends '94.

I was able to use the 01' rotors and Dodge calipers on the 94 Ford Dana 60 front I swapped under mine so I'm interested in the 03 brake upgrade too - what's the link?

I've also heard a rumor that the 94-98 Ford D60 knuckles will bolt up to the 94-98 dodge 60 - good way to ditch your unit bearings and get real lockout hubs, but there is a whole bunch of steering issues you have to work out, see my response on a related question here:

Won't work, the knuckles are different. Best bet would be find an entire front axle from an '01/'02 with the same gear ratio. Bolt right in. Then sell your old one to recoup some of the cost. HTH
