913 Pump Swap Questions?!?!

I got some questions and I'd like to have your opinions!

In a short time (been saying that for a while now) I'm swapping in a 913 Pump!

Questions are:
1. Anything I should do/have done to the pump to enhance performance before I install it?
2. What would you guys suggest for timing?

Here's the rest of the story...the pump nut on the 175 is stuck, can't get it loose with a 4' breaker bar! I have a radiator to put in sometime, so I'll probably tear the whole frontend apart so I can get to the pump easier! I'll also be doing an O-ring and ported head, and a cam at the same time, too!

Fuel wise, I'm planning on running my stock injectors, or some 215's if I can find them, with 181 DV's for a while to make sure everythings alright! Then, I'm probably going to a set of better injectors...probably EDM's and not 370's. If I still have enough air, I'll put ther laser cut DV's back in! BTW, the pump will get 4K GSK, but I'll probably try to limit it to 35-3600RPM!

I'm thinking 17* again...I do lots of towing, don't want to get good at headgaskets!

Thanks Guys, and sorry for the long post!
Chris

Have the pump put on a stand and calibrated , they can even crank it up a little more if you like

Well , how about this , I'll make you a sweet deal , I'll send you a Money order to cover the shipping to send that pump up here , and I'll Pull my 160 , and send it back down for you to use while i get my pump shop to give that 913 a real good going over , and get it all turned up nice , then , i'll put it on my truck to make sure everything is copasetic.

Does that sound like a good deal? I am always trying to help out a fellow DTR'r and Farmer , even if you don't bleed Case IH red

what about us green guys??????? & I mean Deutz not JD!!!! the local pump shops here charge an arm & a leg to put one on the bench, dunno if I'd bother unless you can get a good price, I'd say you've messed with enough of 'em to get it real close to the way you want it!! good luck, & how are the DV's doin'?? still good I hope, let us know how she runs after the pump, head, cam, & whatever else you have layin in the shop waitin are done! good luck again, Dusty

Deutz is the ONLY color of green...even if it is a little ugly when faded out

The DV's are still doing fine...my headgasket is probably about ready to come out of the truck and have a talk with me...I've now seen 68psi and 1650* on the stock bolts and gasket! Man am I lucky

I'll see what she's packin' Thursday night...I should have stump pulling torque, but no top end the way my timing is right now!

Keep any opinions coming, guys,
Thanks Again,
Chris

Hey Chris why don't you take it Over Too Larry at Layfette Injection and Turbo and have him put it on the stand and play with it, He is a old school guy and knows some old school tricks. He likes to talk, but you can learn o lot form him, ask Lavon about Him.

Thats cool Chris. Diff people have diff exp with people. He has always been really good to us and fast service. I go down there every once and I while and just BS and try to learn things from him. I have never had him rebuild or work on a pump for us, but he has done injector work for us.
