6BT and turbo 400 auto combo?
What would be needed and involved in putting a chevy 400 auto behind a cummins? Can it be done if I use a bell from a cummins with the chevy sm465? What about flexplate? Can the 400 be built to handle the cummins if used in drag racing? Thanks SS

Why bother? The old 727 is by far superior to the 400. And with either you only have three gears. The 727 came behind some of the early Cummins/Dodge trucks.

If you want to use the T400, make sure you use aftermarket shafts.
There was a story a few years ago when some one did this, they kept breaking shafts.
Eventually put the dodge trans in it.
I like the T400, it has its advantages, but needs to be beafed to hold this motor.

If you are intent on doing this, find a TH475 package from usually a camper. Has a lot of heavier parts. Be a lot cheaper to just go with a 727 with the hemi stuff in it. Steel caged four gear planateries, five clutch third and 2 1/2' band, either single wrap or double wrap. I still have a five clutch drum and band here from drag race days. You would need a billet converter shaft and a custom converter to do it right.
