62 or 64mm turbo

im looking at industrial injection's 62 or 64mm turbo and cant figure which one would work best for me. people with these, or similar turbos, could you say what your setup is and how it performs with daily driving and towing (lag, max boost, egt's). im looking to do 191 delivery valves and some pump work, maybe 215 or stage II injectors from DDP. already have 4k gsk. so far im leaning towards the 62/14/71. any suggestions are appreciated. i do mostly highway driving and a little in the city.

I run the BD Special which is a 64/71/14. I really like this charger. It spools good and so far has been great for a DD truck. I haven't towed with it yet, so I give an opinion on that right now. I believe I can tow, but don't want to say for sure until I do.

I used to run a 64/65/12 and this new charger is no comparison.

With the TST on level 4 I can't hold on to the back end of the truck when I hits second gear.

I just installed a 62/12 and with the Mach 4's it spools almost the same as a stocker. Great turbo, great response and huge power. Plus, it has a great whine totally different than the stock turbo.

I have a 62/65/14. Im running a lot of fuel but it makes for a fun truck. Spool up is fast and it makes good power.

do you guys think a 62/71/14 or a 64/71/12 would spool quicker?

I'd think the smaller compressor would help spool more than a smaller housing.

I do, too.

I think a lot of guys look to larger compressors for more power when they should instead try letting their existing turbo breathe better with a larger housing.

I haven't tried this, but I'd love to run a HTT 62/71/SS16 against a 64/71/12. I'd be willing to bet the smaller compressor with the larger housing performs much better all around.

Im in a similar situation. Just bought some DDP2's and trying to decide if a PS62/12 is right for it. Id like to err on the side of better low end spool and smaller injectors to keep mileage decent.

On the hwy, a larger housing should give better MPG because it's less restriction for the engine to pump against.

Around town, it depends you your foot if the larger turbo will improve MPG or not. A light foot might see a little improvement-- a heavy foot makes it unlikely.

Does anyone even make a 64/71/12? I bet it would be horrible with big injectors. Having had both chargers 64/12 with the 65mm turbine and now the 64/14 with the 71. The 64/71/14 is the way to go with big injectors.

Hohn is right about less restriction, with the smaller housing it felt as if the truck was being held back all the time on the highway. Didn't realize it until I had I something to compare it with..
