#6 plate and 215 pump

#6 plate and 215 pump
I know that TST does not recommend the #6 with a 215 HP pump/manual tranny, but they also don't recommend the #10 with an auto and alot of guys run them, including me. I think this is due to stock clutches and TC giving out, but I'm not sure.
My question, is a #6 okay in a 215 HP pump with manual tranny. I'm trying to sell this and I don't want to mislead the buyer. I have an auto tranny so really can't answer his question. Any body help?

here is the way i see it
I run a 100 plate, which as u know is far more aggresive than a six plate. No one really goes by that plate numbering thing anymore, and really u cannot mislead the driver, if you put that plate in the stock position, and back off the starwheel and the AFC housing i wouldnt see why it wont work. In my current setup i have the plate at 2/3 forward, just perfect for governer arm adjustment not needed , starwheel at 3/4 adn AFC at 1/2 way, I get some smoke, but im still on a stock clutch and have been for almost 25K miles...
Its just my opinion but I am vcertain that you can run any plate you want on these 215 pumps, and you can get them to run correctly, smoke, or not smoke at all, and fine tune them just by messing with the AFC, starwheel, and Plate positioning, and if you have easy access to governer arm it all falls into play.
It can be done but he would have to know how to play with it, if you are gonna set it up for him, just put the plate centered, or in stock position, back off the starwheel to about 1/2 way, and loosen the four screws on the AFC and either center it or set it back, cause if it is full forward that lil mm or whatever it is, i cannot explain but it does make a noticable difference...
My two cents, and experience

Just what you thought, that # 6 is a little agressive for a stock clutch and as a manafacture they have to IDIOT PROOF IT (like my spelling LOL) If they recomended it with a stock clutch (or auto) and you put it in and killed it youd be after them so....
I agree with TX fine tunning is very important with these pumps as there are many sperate variables that affect each other. I wish I was good at it but I'm learnin

different to that, the number 6 doesnt have the ramp on the bottom, the very bottom is kinda cut back, diagonally ___/
now bottom line,
we installed a number 6 on a 215, the governor rided under the plate, which made the truck smoke up once, and then defueled at higher rpm, cuz the governor arm couldnt go up, once you pressed it.
BUT the plate worked great, full forward AFTER i adjusted the governor, so it would hit the plate on the bottom ___/- -Hitting point, with shut off solenoid up.
after that, it got the fastest diesel, to be around town. it hit over 90mph, in 1/4 mile, with just the plate, stock airfilter, stock muffler, cat etc.
now he did "some" other mods, he his now in the 105 mph range, still with the 6 plate
Nut in a shell: you may use a number 6 plate forward, if you adjust the governor arm, so it wont ride under the plate at any time.
and the 215 pump has a shorter gov. adjusting screw, just dont let it fall in2 the pump, if you screw it out!
