6 inch RCD lift is on and it didnt go up that much higher

Ok I got RCD 6 inch long arm lift kit on. I took measurements on all four corners at the center of the wheelwells above the axles before I took it apart, and I had a 2 inch leveling kit so I have taken that into consideration. IN stock form with the leveling kit it was 43 1/4 in the front on both sides, with the RCD springs it only went up to 45 1/2 so it went up a whole whopping 2 1/4 inches ***???? Even if you take off the 2 inches for the leveling kit it only went up 4 1/4 inches total over a completely stock truck where is my other almost 2 inches of lift???

Now for the rear I had Deaver Springs make me some complete springs, I didnt want any blocks at all, so I know the rear should of went up 4 inches over stock, seeing how the front sits 2 inches lower from the factory. The measurements at stock were 44 1/2. So even with the leveling kit my truck was still an inch higher in the rear. With the new springs it was 46 1/2 again it only went up 2 inches ***!!!!!!!! Am I missing something??

I am going to call RCD tomorrow and see what they say, it seems to me they are practicing false advertising selling a 4 inch kit in a 6 inch wrapper. I am not happy at all. Do all the lift companies do this? Say that they're lifts are higher than they actually are?? If anyone has numbers from before and after they lifted thier trucks please post them so I can see if this is normal thank you.......

when I was 4wheelin Jeeps, the lift kits were always MORE of a lift initially.
For an example when I put my 5" lift on my Cherokee it was more like 6"-6.5". After a couple trails and some miles it would settle out to 5".

Yes we saw his concern and by posting how other lifts are normally initially higher than advertised we further proved his initial thoughts that his lift was incorrect.

but that does not mean the lifts are incorrect. they just settle down to the correct height. his is completely wrong out of the box. so you telling him yours was a little high at first but settled to the correct height does not help him at all.

thank you someone saw what I was trying to explain. I have lifted up my 83 Toyota with a 7 in Skyjacker, and it was more like 8 in, I have done a 4in Jeep CJ7 lift again Skyjacker was almost 4.5 inches and have done a 8 inch lift on my buddies Ford F-250 and it was closer to 10 inches, So I am well aware of the height being higher than stated but not lower than stated from the get go, Ill let you know how it turns out

My truck is a diesel and its an 2002 I guess I should of stated that it is also a quad cab and does not have the off road kit. None the less I called up Top Gun Customz where I bought they were helpful and said the truck should be much higher than it is and they would help me out in any way possible and to give RCD a call. So I called RCD and they told me this, " with this lift kit you can expect your truck to lift up to 6 inches though its not common usually it is from 4 to 5 and half inches depending on motor and body styles. First they do not express this on thier website or in any part of the directions if they did I WOULD OF NEVER bought this kit, I was floored. So they are completly practicing false advertising if they know for a fact it wont lift it the total 6 inches on certian trucks. Right now I am 4.5 inches over stock so what happens when they settle in or start to sag??? For what I paid I am very dissatisfied with this, if I would of know this I would of bought the Skyjacker 7 inch kit. I now have to wait till Tuesday cause most of RCD is at the SEMA show, basically I need new front springs for a diesel motor to lift my truck up the full 6 inches. My advice to all STAY AWAY from RCD........

first off I would say in the future your best bet for measureing is from the center of the axel up to the wheel well. That will eliminate any issues due to tires, dips in the ground yada yada.

I would see if you can get another lift kit from the place that sold it to you. now I know your truck weighs more then mine. but on my two trucks the one with the 4.5" skyjacker ended up being about 6 all settled down and the other with the 4.5" BDS ended up being about 6.5" all settled down. (sky jacker rides nicer)

i tell you what, i know you have alot of time and effort in your lift, but i would talk to rcd directly and tell them how unhappy you are with the lift and the way they advertise there lifts. tell them that they can make it right by shipping you whatever parts you need to make your lift a true 6" lift for free or you want to return the lift or a refund due to false advertising. thats pretty shady for them to do something like that. why not just call your lift a 4.5" lift if they know it isnt 6"

I agree tottally. And if they dont budge start dropping hints about how you'll flame them on large online groups I know I'll never buy an RCD now.

I have talked to them and they want me to take pics of all sides of the truck with the measuring tape next to it, but they still cant do anything till Tuesday. There were a couple of other things I didnt like at all about this kit but that is not where my issue with them is. Its clear they should of told people different motors will give you different hieghts, this is why alot of lift companies make springs especially for diesel motors for all the extra weight. I just feel completly taken advantage of. And it getting cold here in PA and I need to get my truck done, lol.
