6.0 Encounter
For some reason i live in ford country if its not mustangs it powerstrokes so i feel it my duty to pass any of them as often as possible. The look i got yesterday on the highway was priceless, as i passed a younger ford driver in his proud 6.0, when i pulled up to his door he started to accelerate rapidly as i noticed some black smoke from his truck i pushed the go pedal down and went on by him at 90mph he was about 7 truck lengths behind me and fading fast i think more than anything he was suprised he couldn't outrun the slow dodge.

Good job!!!
One thing all Dodge CTD owners need to remember about
the Ford PSD's and the Chevy Duramaxes is that once they
hit about 94-98 MPH they are DONE because the PCM/ECM's
are "set" to "cut fuel off" to the engine!! The only way to
prevent that is for them to buy the electronics to "override"
that function and it is my understanding the wiring harnesses
are expensive!!

John's right about the speed limiter. My roomate's 6.0 with a 60/100 horse Bully Dog box is fast as heck off the line. I just cant row that fast, he knows it and gives me crap. As soon as that starts I suggest that we do a 50mph roll on. He shuts up pretty quick. Although, I'm not sure if the boxes coming out now are able to remove the speed limiter or not. He's had to send his back a couple times and always says something about they will be removing the speed limiter this time. I don't know.

With a 6 speed and 354 rears my truck from 50 to 120pulls like a champ and unless you have a good setup (every thing together) its hard to get egts under contol in that range. I hit 1500 and it then will drop as fast as it comes up back to about 1000.

Who says the Turd 6.0 is fast? I drove my father-in-laws brand new one last weekend. One word... DOG. I was falling asleep wanting for the turbo to spool up!!
My truck would run circles around it and I 'm just mildly bombed. If any of you can't outrun one you should be smacked
Why anyone would buy a PSD over a Cummins after a test drive is beyond me.

That is just what a friend of mine that used to be a mechanic for furd told me, also have another friend that race a bombed CTD and beat him. I don't really know for sure how fast they are but I did hear that they were having some problems.

Rusty , are you sure thats all you can get is 94-98 , My 02 is a stock auto 4:10 and i was messing around with the GPS and pulled a 110mph ? Dont remember what was on the tach probably pegged around 3200. Not that this is a good idea on 10plys.

No, I've never tried it, but I'm running 2000 RPM @ 60 MPH. That would be 3000 RPM @ 90 MPH, or 3300 RPM @ 99 MPH (ignoring tire growth). I might break 100, depending on when the VP-44 decides to defuel.

When I was running my 99 3500 4.10 geared 5spd at the strip my MPH was stopped at 96.9 to 97.1. It did not matter if I ran a 14.7 or a 15.2. I always had the same MPH. This was 6 passes at two different tracks. I was fueling to about 3100 using the DDUFM Drag version.

A guy I work with has a new 04 6.0 and has been bugging me to run him. We finally did down the industrial park. And keep in mind my 01 has 125k on it and his 04 6.0 has 2k on it, my only bomb was an Edge Ez. I could take him off the line everytime without a problem (lots more low end torque I imagine). But a few hundred feet into it he would start catching up. For the most part from there on we were pretty even (until we had to shut down for the next stop sign). And yes he has said his truck will not do over 99mph as it is limited to that from the factory.

I would not be to quick to think that the new Furds are dogs, rode in my neighbors 03 yesterday with air and exhaust work, edge with attitude and he shut it off at over 115 with room to go,and it did it quick very quick, now it was no Jim Fulmer truck or some others like Jims but it would definitley take most mild to moderate bombed dodges!!! But it doesn't matter it was still a Furd as I like my cummins just like it is After he dropped me off at the house he told me he just got back from a long trip running empty and I am even more proud of my Dodge as his fuel economy was terrible. Goodluck,,,, Rick
