500hp
Ive got a 12v 215 pumped cummins. I am doing a little planning and bugeting here so any help would be great. I am looking for a recipe for a streetable 500+ HP and what it would cost. Are twins necessary for a streetable 500HP?? What would you guys use to achieve over 500HP for a daily driver??
Thanks

Piece of Cake!
B-1 or similar turbo, twins are nice if smoke control is paramount.
370 Marine injectors warmed over slightly or EDM injectors, but they are not needed for 500 HP
4K gov kit
SounthBend Con FE clutch
A few pump tuning tricks
4" exhaust
valve springs
Bamm! 500 or more HP

I've got one here in OKC with a Plate, 3K's, Stock turbo with an 18.5 housing, 370's and a Water/Meth kit on it, power is 432 on fuel and 496 on water. Now having said that it does have a few of my tricks done to it, but not all of them.....easy 450 on fuel!

**** that is easier than I thought. At what point are o rings and studs necessary?? Whats the max boost you can have without o-ringing and studding??? If I wanted to go to twins at a later time what would be a good turbo to start out with as a single and then use as the top turbo when I go twins??
Thanks

clc900:
On my 1996 Dodge CTD 12 valve I blew the stock head
gasket while running 65lbs. of boost with an early B-1
Turbocharger. I also had increased fueling from my
P7100 pump, 370 injectors, and increased timing to
16 degrees. That was with the stock headbolts, no
o-rings or anything.

Yep that is easy to do on that truck, there is not many people that could say that.....BOTW, EGT's on a hard run at the top of 5th are 1500, this is over the power level of an HX-40 but add a B-1 to it and you would see a real nice gain.
I really like the 40 on top as I run one, there are limits to it in single form but so far it produced the highest numbers on Twin form (because of the people that are running it) but a B-1 would be a good choice also.
50 psi seems to be a good number with a stock gasket but it is a gamble, after that it should have studs and an O-ring.

My '98 12v/5spd is my daily driver, makes 540hp on fuel only and still gets 18mpg.
My recipe was:
DD3 inj
100 plate
Delivery valves
4k springs
Cam (piers)
Twins 40/3B
Dual disk clutch (southbend)
O-ring and ported head and studs
This truck has top-end for days, egt's are fine and spools like mad!
