The NV5600 is gonna be your best bet for a transmission. Then the 5-spd, then the auto. If you use the 5spd then get the larger input shaft for it and a clutch to match for that power rating. The NV5600 is obviously going to be more expensive to convert to but it's worth it when you're hopping these things up. I spent about $2780.00 converting my truck and that was buying the NV5600 used.

Re:500 + hp set up?
In my experience it's pretty difficult to get above 500 hp without having your P7100 make a visit to a pump stand, where is can be properly tweaked (there is more than one way to turn up the fuel).

I forgot, but did expect that the p7100 would need some tweaking.....the only real question is who and how much....I believe thats the best way to get less smoke and better drivabilty anyways..

I am baffled why there are not alot of turbos out there? I have a few other turbo cars and have found a lot of turbos available but it doesn t seem that way for the ctd?

What size is a hx50 anyways? 50 mm compressor? I l just start another thread on that.

Re:500 + hp set up?
You don't say what truck this is going on, and it does make a big difference. If you are starting with a 180 HP truck you will also need a set of 191 DV's. The 191 DV's arn't for the high HP they help the lower end in getting the rollers spinning. If you are really serious about high HP get a stupid pump from Piers. He builds each pump for the customers truck and they are awsome at fuel delivery. Jim is right twins and a stupid pump are the way to go and you can skip most of the 500 and be close to 600 HP.
Bruce

Yeah. Unless you're starting with the larger P-pump on the 96-98.5 trucks then you're going to be pissing in the wind trying to make 500hp. The smaller pumps will do it... but you're really reaching.

500HP is a tall order for a 12 valve. Tuning is the way to get there. The smaller pumps are gonna have a tough time getting you there unless you twin turbo. I would start with a 913 5 speed pump from the years 96-98.

Don~
500 hp is a tall order for a 12valve? Can you explain that? Oh...it's a tall order unless your from Vegas. Is that what you meant? Don't you have some hyenas to go herd?

Alright, I am fed up with all the East/West coast bickering. I WILL NOT put up with any personal attacks or guys that like to "bait" a thread to get something started. Your arrogant opinions of someone is not wanted here. If you still feel like you need to bash someone. Take it to another site, we dont need it here. Another site has already had to close a thread that had the same properties as this one is starting to have. I wont name any names, you know who you are.

500HP is tough for alot of folks to make. Many might feel they have 500 until they get on the "humbler" or the dynojet. Long burn-out marks and seat of the pants feel is not always as accurate as many think.
Although Bullwagon can make 500HP with ease...we cant all do this without losing some drivability and street manners. I struggled for a good while before cracking it and it was not done overnight. There are prescriptions for 450-500 HP but the medicine does not always work on every truck. Many a day I thought the 500HP was a simple task until I dynoed ???
With many regions of the country not having one and many people not even using dynos, the 500HP mark may have eluded them as well.
