I think you will find what most of us have...you end up towing around 450 HP max. H2O/Meth helps a lot with EGT's. If going with a big single and towing, I would not run larger than Mach 4's.... especially with your HO. Might want to forget the HRVP-44 and get an SO VP-44 instead.

I agree. My EGT's stay in check much higher then that, but there are other things that come into play. Water and oil temps start to climb. The Dana 70 in the rear will start to get warm, and it will also end up loosing preload on the side bearings, with continuous high hp towing. With 450hp and around 1000ft lbs of torque, these pickups will tow alot.

As far as twins, vs. single. I like the twins I have much better then the singles I have run.

Big difference between 500hp and 600hp when talking twins, IMO. My BD twins are great, but 600 hp is about their upper limit, and that's for short bursts/racing only.
For closer to 500 hp, you could use your present turbo, with a 14 cm turbine housing and add just the bottom turbo and piping to save some money.

If you might want more that 650 hp, I would recommend a setup like paul's above.... an S300/S400 combo!

Lots of choices out there...more every day it seems. You probably need to do a search and lots of reading!

With your stock injection pump you could make over 500 RWHP with the right set up. IMO stay with the stock IP until it goes out and then go to an SO. No cense in fixing something that aint broke. You could go with say 200+ hp injector, but keep in mind your stock HO pump will not give much more than 180. The juice is't going to give much more than 90. A cam will help with EGT's, but wont do much for HP if your moving enough air. I would also agree with the twins, but I would upgrade your stock turbo to a hybrid. I have stock 35/3b twins and at 430+ towing they do great. I dont think I've seen over 1100*, but once I turn the box on and get over 500 it will get hot. I suppose you could do the stock 35 in twins with W/M, but it would cost the same as the hybrid upgrade and I'm not a fan of W/M or nitrous.

Towing isnt really a worry because the only thing I have to tow right now is a trailer with two snowmobiles, i might get a tractor when I get back from NC, but that wont be until june 08.

towing with 600hp on a single is very risky because the temps can get up there pretty quick with a heavy load and any type of grade. if you wanna be able to tow with 500hp or more you will need the twins.

i have to keep my TST off to tow with my B1 and i still found myself letting off the pedal on some grades to keep it below 1200* and i was only towing a small trailer of 3k or less.
exactly.

now on a twins setup i am going with a sps 62/14 over a b2. This will support more hp than the bd twins. yet the bd twins are a very nice setup dont get me wrong. but the first set i mentioned will provide me with more air for towing with just the smarty and m6's. (and yes, you have to turn the tst off to tow )

and do you have 10k for all the mods that its going to take to do this right? your going to have to rebuild the head and stud it and o ring it and install new valve guides and springs, along with a new gasket. a new cam would be ideal. then you have all the parts for the twins and the turbos themselves and the little nick knacks such as lines and fittings and hoses and all the things that you will need to get this running right? i hope you can get out of it for just 10k.......
