5 speed clutch kits, any suggestions?
Having trouble with a Napa Car Care Center replacing the clutch on my 98.5 3500 with a stock manual 5 speed. One the second one and the clutch is chattering after the install of the new ones. Didn't have any problems with the original clutch. They've resurfaced the fly wheel both times, though I don't know what method. I beginning to think their clutch kits can't handle the load (particularly when hauling a 10K trailer), or just plain aren't up to OEM specs. They're going to put in a third clutch kit this week, if it still chatters after that, I need to think about where else to get a clutch from. Any comments or suggestions would be appretiated. Thanks.

Sorry about the short post, I had to blast out here last night for dinner. I went with a South Bend Con OFE for my 2000 6 speed, but I haven't had time to install it yet. That comes with a resurfaced flywheel redrilled for the larger pressure plate, clutch, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and alignment tool.
Depending on you power goals a Con O is probablely fine for you if your going to remain stock.
Before you go for another clutch I would give Peter a call at south bend and see what he says about your current condition. Maybe this new one needs to be broke in (not broken like some people do) Good luck with it.

if u r looking for a good clutch that can hold up to alot of abuse (i mean alot of abuse , like 20-30 3rd gear launches 10-15 4th 40 2nd) and still hold and not be pulled 4 adjustment then call woodruff diesel tell him u want the double disk clutch he sold ben!!!!! alot cheaper than others and some u have to pull to adjust or put a hole n the bell housing this one is self adjusting!

so much for NAPA
Well, after the second clutch they installed still chattered, they had a specialist from NAPA come in and inspect the install, clutch and flywheel. He said he couldn't find anything wrong and left. Long story short. The place that is doing the clutch is reimbursing me for the clutch and going to install a South Bend Clutch Con 0 that I went out and bought. I knew I should not have gone to a NAPA Car Care center, but they are at least being reasonable about not charging me for the extra labor, etc. So far the only thing extra that I'm out is the rental car.... Thanks for the suggestion to go with South Bend. The Con 0, rated at 400 HP and 900 ft lbs of torque should be more than enough for what I do.
