4x4 or 2x4 for quarter miler?

Just wondering what you all thought on this topic. Do you think a 2x4 cummins would hookup with slicks doing a high lb boost luanch with drag slicks? This would be a high horsepower truck. Also anyone have an idea on how much slicks and wheels for one of these trucks would cost? And would having a 2x4 instead of a 4x4 really save you that much time?

Having a 2x4 (assuming you could hook up at the track) would probably run about .1-.2 better than a 4x4.

I would go with a 2wd Just because of weight issues, think of axle, transfer case, it starts adding up.

Yes, the 2WD will be a tit quicker. When modded it will help later when your trying to strip the truck of weight, because all the Excess weight in the front is already gone!

for a mild setup, or if you're wanting to run on radials, 4x4 will be better...

but for all out performance, 2wd w/ a big sticky tire is the way to go.

what good is 4wd when the front wheels aren't even touching the ground??

Thedieselstop.com has a company on there that has a 2wd PSD they call Snow White that is a street legal full out drag truck. It's a 02 2wd auto PSD and I think they are into the low to mid 12s and he said they were going to a 4 link in the rear for more traction.I believe they are also running a ARB air locker or some sort of locker but I can't remember which brand.

it's gone faster... but there are a lot of street legal/driven 2wd CTD's that are faster than it is.
