Launching at 0 psi I'd get beat off the line by a 3 cylinder Sprint. I've got 2-3 seconds of lag with the tight DTT converter.

The guy that drives the 3rd gen is an old hot rodder. He used to have a tubbed 55 Chevy with an LS6. He works for a dealer and these are brand new trucks he's driving into the ground. Anybody wanna buy one of these "demos"?

I'll race him and do a 6-8psi launch. If I get my doors blown off I'll tell them I had a golf ball stuck under the accelerator pedal. They'll laugh, I'll tell them to ............. It's all for fun.

Safer with a stock turbo... yes. Many have no trouble below 10 psi...yes, for a while.
But it appears you already know that... from your signature

2500CTD - You are 45% over stock @ 274/580. Any stock 3rd gen will beat any stock 2nd gen, IMO.

RJ
Well one day I decided to go above 10psi, thats when the trouble arose. Did plenty of 10 psi launches. Now I am scared and won't even do that

I launch in 4WD and push it out when it shifts into second...it cuts a 1/10 of my ET. 20psi of boost is what I leave at.

20 psi? I've done that on a dead stock tranny before in 2wd. You pansy.

Well last night I tangled with a slightly modified 3rd gen dually (I think he had an EZ). Anyways, from a 70mph roll by the time my tranny downshifted into 3rd from OD I had half a truck on him. And that's on a dying auto (I can slip it at will now).

I can do it in 2wd too, if all I'm looking to do is smoke the tires....

And yall say the stocker is holding me back. I can do a 20 psi launch in 2wd and it slips so much that the tires don't even spin off the line which helps me come out of the hole better.

i think launching in 4wd sounds really....costly to even begin with....a transfer case isnt meant to take that kind of abuse at all

Wow since u put it that way. I didnt think it was that much of an improvement. I do realize that that was the only reason I kept up with him. He was suprised too.

Man I cant launch above 5 psi. It will spin into 2nd. I can leave at about 3-5psi feather it a sec or two then stab its all good.

But it does. Amazingly enough there doesn't seem to really be any drivetrain weaknesses. NOT building some boost by holding the brake and giving it some fuel is thought of as "goofy" as it has a big impact on your 60 foot. People have broke rear ends and what not, but usually it's a transmission that lets go building boost at the line before a ujoint or carrier. I've seen a built Suncoast trans smoke 1st gear when a Scary Larry program went nuts, screwed up the TST boost guage, and the truck hit 50psi at the line.

i think a stock 3rd gen cummins and a hemi ram are about dead even when both are stock. my father ran consistent 16.20's with his stock motor 04.5 and 33" tires.

You should be able to outrun the 3rd gen if its stock. You basically have the same setup as me except I have 181 DV's, and a #0 plate. The last time I ran at the drag strip, leaving with 10psi in 4wd I ran a 15.7 and that was before the injectors, and I could definatley tell a little difference with the injectors. I think i could run a 15.4 or so now, but there is only one way to know. Either way; your truck should also be running high 15's, and that will take a stock 3rd gen. But I also run locked shifts. Im not sure how much difference it makes, but I think I will try running unlocked some the next time I go to the drag strip to see what the difference in times are. Let us know what happens if you all race.

Be glad it's slipping! Probably the only thing allowing your non billet shafts to stay in one piece.

Note to Newbies - Don't try this at home

Nah. Only reason those are staying together is because I don't have enough power.
