4th/OD Switch??

Is there a way to force my truck into 4th/OD by using a switch?? Even with the Lockup switch on, it will unlock the converter when I push on it very hard...seems like just as the charger spools up and really starts pulling, it unlocks!

I'm still new on the Auto's, but I've heard something about a Brown wire I can tap into, kinda like the TC Lockup switch, to force it into OD!

Thanks in Advance,
Chris

I would ask Tim about it. He has it in his truck. I've been trying to find out myself.

You should be able to find that in your service manual!! The switch would work just like the lockup.

Yep...it locks up fine when I flip the switch, but when I lay the hammer down, it will unlock, and sometimes downshift...then once I get some speed, it will shift back to OD, and lockup fine!

Something isnt right about that.... Possibly how DTT has their VB setup?? When you flip the switch on mine, it doesent unlock until you flip it back down.

yup, valve bodies can be setup to downshift when locked up, but if the switch is in correctly it cannot unlock if you've forced lockup

i'm not sure if the 98's are different, but mine says it will downshift from overdrive to drive if you floor it at speeds above 35mph. But I don't think that helps with finding a way to lock it in OD completly.

Well, my truck is currently running without a PCM. So, I have BOTH my lock-up and OD on toggles... I love it cause I can shift outa OD when I'm going 50 behind ol' granny, build a lil boost and about the time I'm pulling out around i flick in OD and my truck just launches like a monster (Rather than slowly coming alive as the turbo first lags then slowly builds some boost). It's pretty simple though; just two wires that you have to splice into and take to ground individually.

As far as the downshift your DTT VB probably has the passages drilled out so it can lock up in 2nd and will downshift if you mash it... I like the way the trans-go kit makes my tranny semi manual as it will hold any gear unless I slam on the brakes or pull it down with the selector

Do you have the relay removed and jumped? And yes you can hook up a switch to force it into overdrive early.

Once mine is locked up with the lockup switch, it doesn't come out no matter what. Even when coming to a stop...
