4k GSK Problem

Yes i did a 4k GSK on a 98 12 valve and i have done these many of times before and no problems?? so maybe i just got lucky the first couple of times but i set the governor springs to as many clicks as what it was when i took the stock springs out...but the idle spring is backed off all the way and it still idles at 1000rpms?? Which i know that means it is to tight??? so i have backed it off 2 more clicks and same thing....?? These things are getting loose it seems like ?? What should the stud protrusion be on the 4k kit?? and also i have always remove all the springs (including the Idle spring) and removed all the shims and no problems??? THis truck is a auto also with a built suncoast???so i know the convertors can pull them down some but not kill it ????i need this truck back on the road pls help thanks !!

What about the idle adjustment on the back of the pump?
Did you find all the shims, even the one on the big idle spring?
PDR told me it was a NO NO to remove big spring, because my idle drops way down when i let off pedal, they told me I screwed up my pump.
Hope this helps

Are you not using the big spring?
You are told to not remove it. If so, put it back in and try it.

I always measure stud protrusion before tearing into it. it won't necessarily be the same from side to side. have you tried backing them off each one click?

You want about .050" stud protrusion. Maybe it's the linkage holding the idle up, have you double checked it's not binding. By removing the shims under the idle spring you can give the whole spring pack more clicks, without wrecking the torque back up,[idle & start quaility] but you really shouldn't need to do that unless you are trying to get more than 3 or 4 thousand revs
