43PSI boost w/stock turbo, boost leak still possible?

I have been running these delivery valves for a while now and I managed to blow off the drivers side lower intercooler boot a 1/2 dozen times before I got a nice boot from Piers..

I am now hitting 40PSI constant and 43PSI peak boost but I still hear a rushing sound.. Maybe it has always been there.. I'm not sure..
But the chances its a boost leak are pretty slim with those numbers on a stock HX35 with 12cm housing, correct?

Just looking for input.. Thanks!

Dang, 40 to 45 psi on a stock turbo?? That's a little to much for the stocker!!

I'd try adjusting your wastegate and get it down to about 35 psi and see if the sound is still there.....what kind of filter setup do you have?? That could be where the sound is coming from, mine is really loud!!

Just a thought

Yep, 40PSI daily. I know its too much, I am waiting till the $$ is there to buy a HTT HTB2 64/14.

How do you adjust the wastegate on the stock turbo?

I have a BHAF, but I have had it since the way home from picking the truck up.. So that sound shouldn't be new.

Let me know, thanks.

Well heck man...............get'er done!!! Well as long as you are planning on a bigger and better turbo, run the crap out that thing!!!

Can you really tell where that noise is coming from?? I know it's not that easy with our loud motors!!

Hows the EGT's?? Usually when you have boost leak, your EGT's will go up some.........

When I was running the stocker that far, it sounded like it was blowing air everywhere too. I think it's normal for that little charger!!

You should hear it at 51psi!!

Greasy Chicken????!

I wonder if that contributed to the stockers early demise @285K??

Lots of fuel? Small turbo..

Head gaskets aren't an issue until around 50PSI or so.

The only effective way to test for pressure leaks is to do the wet soap solution rub down with the truck on a dyno. About a case of WalMart's kid bubble blowing soap works best.

Given the age of your truck, I would pay particular attention to the lower horn and the bottom tubes of the intercooler.

better question then would be how do you supply the fuel?

Heck, Im running the same mods as bobcat except I have 370s and I see 40-45lbs religously! on my little hx-35 with a 12cm she gets alittle toasty at times, but just gotta babysit it. got another hx35 with a 14cm housing in the garage.

WRONGO
I popped my head gasket running 40 psi (blocked waste gate) and 16-17° timing.

Bad to your original question on boost leak.

Have you ever seen the stock boots swell when the boost rises?
The casting ridges on the intercooler are a common leak source, even at moderate pressure. That was the first fix on my truck ...before the bombing started.
