4000 Gsk
Hello all. I've been reading on here a long time, but first time to post. You guys are great help. I thought I would run through my 4000 gsk install, maybe someone else wont do what this fool did! I've been into the AFC housing many times, so that was smooth. When I went to remove the springs, I used a pencil magnet. As I was bringing the springs up, I heard a clink . The lower seat was stuck to the springs cuz of magnet. It fell off and went down below the flyweights. LUCKILY I was able to fish a pencil magnet down there and got it, and the shims. Other spring pack, I used a long hook . Anyway, the testdrive gave a huge smile, WOW! I adjusted my throttle valve cable also, and the tranny has come alive! WOT it shifts about 2700rpm, its just awesome. Timing is okay for 3300rpm, but doesn't like much more than that, starts to smoke white about 3500. I'm very impressed. I had the stock springs turned 2 clicks up before. Wasn't even worth the trouble, plus, it wouldnt start without throttle. Now she fires right up. Now I need to finish the 4" exhaust and get the Scotty on. At that rpm she gets a little warm Love the 4000 kit!

Got it from TST. It was 125 bucks. They have free shipping on any order over 100. They also have good detailed instructions. Good pictures for people like me

You did change the valve springs to 60 lbs springs??????
Sears sells a pencil magnet that has a flex head on it. The flex head is about 6" long which wuold make it easier to go for the parts in the pump.

No, if I remember right, the stock valve springs are good between 32 and 3500rpm. I figured between the timing, and the auto, I would never see anything more than 3200. I just got the 4000 because I wanted it to pull harder up to 3000. I've heard the 3000 kit sometimes defuels as early as 2800. It seems to be working out nicely so far.

4k
im glad your system has worked out for you, with my truck the 4k spring doesnt do anything but cause my truck to pop at around 2700 without the converter locked in and 2500 with it locked in, i dont know if its air getting into the fuel lines or what, as you can see i have plenty of timing and plenty of fuel to turn 3500 easily, but the only way itll do it is in park, im consisdering taking the pump off and having it bence flow tested

That sure is strange, with your setup it sounds like you should be able to run even 36 or 3700 rpm before timing is a problem. I wonder if your injector pump overflow valve is letting too much fuel by or something. I'm sure someone here would know what would cause that.

I've seen cummins 8.3 engines with 3000 kits, can't say I've personally seen much else. 4000 rpm in a big engine would really be screaming
