What is better will depend on the specific truck.
My truck did not like the Smarty/ TST. Never could get rid of the cruise surge and late lockup. Switched back to the Edge stuff and problem solved.
If you already have a Smarty, try to borrow a TST and see how you like it. With my injectors, it was way too much fuel on the bottom for the tree huggers around here and I was constantly cleaning the rear of the truck up. Also, this stack ran out of steam before the Edge stuff did.
The Smarty adds lots of low end grunt and the TST is very aggressive off the bottom. You would run timing softwares with the TST and non timing with the Comp.
Best thing to do is borrow a box like you are considering and actually drive it. Not pedal down and hammered, that tells you little. Drive it in traffic or however you normally drive. It makes the decision easier.

Well I went ahead and dropped the hammer. My gift to the truck for Christmas
I picked up some Mach 4s and a 62-12 turbo along with a 4" exhaust. I talked to Rip and listened to his advice.
He said the 62-14 would be laggy with an auto trans. Worst case I can upgrade to the 62-14 if it runs too hot.
I am running a Powermax 1 box right now, and decided to keep that. He said hold off on upgrading that until I see how the temps/power is with what I have. Saved me $700 that way too.
