4" replacement muffler suggestions

I need a part number for a good flowing 4" in and 4" out round aluminized muffler for my truck. I don't need a whole system and am looking for suggestions on what may have been used out there. I don't mind louder as long as it's a deeper tone. And of course cost is a factor. I am told there is a good flowing straight thru Mack muffler in the $65.00 dollar range but I don't have a part number. What flow cfm's should i be looking for any how? And where do I find this info.? Thank you in advance

Why don't you just straight pipe your exhaust, its only the cost of a piece of pipe and you said you don't mind louder Thats what you will have"loud"

MBRP mufflers........almost as loud as a straight pipe but has a deeper, mellow tone without the drone of a straight pipe.........my favourite diesel muffler by far

Diamond Eye 4" flow through is another good one. Not sure of the pricing on it though.

I'm going to be putting the Dynomax Ultraflow 22572 on my truck to tone down the stacks for long trips... it's the muffler that Janetty racing uses on his systems. it's not as long as the 21471, but it's got a larger diameter case. I needed a little shorter muffler to fit before the stacks on my single cab.

FWIW, notice the part number on the ultraflow... wlk-22572... as in Walker... as in the same company that makes the 21471

I have the Ultra-flow, the same one Forrest mentioned, on my truck with the stacks, sounds AWESOME. I've always been one for straight pipes, but I decided I'd try it. I love it. Gonna try one on the Ferd before long.

I'm glad to hear you like it... can you hear any turbo through the exhaust? that's one of the things I love most about straight pipe...

I think we've got a different PN... the one in your pics looks like a 6" round case... mine's a 9" round case

well, I put it on... it sounds killer outside the truck... tons of turbo whistle w/ good sound control...

problem is, I think it should really be installed back as close to the tailpipe as possible... it moved the interior resonance down in the RPM range, so I ripped it back off and straight piped it again...

it's a **** shame because it sounded SO good outside!!!

I paid about $95 after shipping... I can't return it because it's been welded on and has soot in it, but it's essentially brand new...

if you want it, it's yours for $65 INCLUDING shipping...

The #21471 has a"body" that's about 28' long. I have heard lots of different mufflers ... The thing that I like about this one is the LOUD WHISTLE that I get with this muffler..I keep wanting to get ON IT just so I can hear that awsome sound.. If you were close to me I'd take ya for a ride.... 98.00 I think.

Forrest, mine does indeed have the 6" case, I wish I remembered the part number, the case is about 12-14" long, 6" around. There's alot of turbo whine from the exhaust still, but it smoothed out the tone and I didn't notice any more interior resonance with it than I did with the straight pipes. But maybe thats me? I never use it for long trips, an hour at most so I really never get time to let something bother me.
